No matter how fast you run, Somehow you can’t escape. The walls you crafted to protect yourself, Serve to penetrate. Through the reality you knew. Popping the shell of bliss around you. Trust me when I say, I’ve been there too. The weights of this world. Work so hard to blind, You from the beauty of tomorrow, And all that’s… Read more →

Soulmate
They said a life without risk wasn’t a life at all so she jumped. And the wind of the unknown slicked back her hair and tickled her skin as she embraced every moment and took it all in. There was no, bungee around her waist, nothing to slow her pace, She fell deeper and deeper in the ocean of love.… Read more →

I was asked to perform at the African Student Association fashion show this Saturday, November 12th at 6pm. I am ecstatic to be reciting a new piece and contributing to a good cause as a portion of the money for the fashion show will go to charity! Tickets are $15 if you purchase them before the show or $20 if you purchase them at the door.
If you have any questions about it or need tickets, please get in contact with me or you may be able to find the event: “University of Arizona African Students’ Association Cultural Fashion Show” on Facebook! Please see the flyer below for additional details.
Forever I’ll Write
These poems tell me what I do not know, About the way I feel inside. They reframe my mind and piece together, The very things I’m trying to hide. But instead of holding it in, I’ve chosen to instead release. And until these feelings go away, My writing will not cease. Read more →
Don’t Settle
Don’t settle because of what once was, Don’t swallow the hurt simply because, The taste is familiar. A bitterness you’ve accepted. Like it’s the only thing on the menu, it’s what you constantly select—it’s Incredible what’s possible, if a different choice you make. But it’s the different, the unknown that keeps you from taking the step you so desperately need… Read more →
Tribute to Dr. Stokes
More time right now would be a gift: Wrapped in the paper that’d capture the heart of a toddler, And engraved with every memory you left me with. A gift: Beautiful but far from fragile, Aged but not worn out, Wise but never judgmental you were it all. And what I do know, is the love that you showed, is… Read more →
Focusing
Experts we are on focusing. On fixating our minds on those “few things.” But in time we neglect that our very mindset, Is the direction we are going to head. It’s true that listing off those things you don’t want to do, Will perpetuate them regardless. If they’re negative, you’re giving them power over you, And holding back your ability… Read more →
Guaranteed Loyalty
Real friendship is so rare, And so true and so kind. It’s the gentle hug you get With tears streaming down your face. It’s the “for that boy? Girl, we ain’t got time!” It’s the whisper of encouraging words, When the drama is too much. It’s the understanding ear to talk to, That presence or reassuring touch. It’s the constant… Read more →
Rule #1: Believe in You
You must never forget to believe in you. That simple decision will lead to your breakthrough. In your passions—a fraction of success is the time that you take. Those long hours and long nights to make yourself great. But the bricks lying on the steps you wish stand. Will remain untouched if you don’t tell yourself you can. Realize that… Read more →
Reap What You Sow
Just keep swimming Dory said, And that teaspoon of advice replayed in my head. As I stepped out into the world so new to me. For the first time in years I was the little fish in a big sea. First days can feel like the worst days can feel like you’re not where you’re supposed to be. But don’t… Read more →
